History

In 1972 the Goodhew family, together with Fred Partridge, who were at that time in the Holland Park Assembly, felt led by the Lord to begin a Sunday School in the Kuraby area. All the homes in Kuraby and the vicinity were visited and consequently the Sunday School commenced with 21 children.

As numbers gradually increased a Gospel Meeting was started, to which the parents of the Sunday School children were invited. Later came mid-week childrens’ meetings and finally, in 1976, a Worship Service.

Until this point a rented hall was used – the CWA Hall in Besline Street. It was then felt that the newly formed Kuraby Assembly should purchase a block of land and build a hall on it. After much prayer and a lot of searching the block on which our hall now stands was chosen. The next move was to raise finance and build. This was difficult as the Assembly was small. After earnest prayer the Lord provided. The hall we now have was given to us by the Bulimba Assembly which was closing down.

After much preparatory work on the site the hall was transported and when in position was fitted with a new roof.
In 1987 the hall was extended to greatly enlarge the kitchen and the office was built.

Since the church's commencement many souls have been saved and others have been strengthened in their spiritual life.

A DVD of the history of Kuraby Christian Church is available for $12.50 and can be obtained from The AV Team. Pictured on the label are the original members outside the hall as it now is.

Also available for $12.50 is an Anniversary Service DVD picturing members past and present who gathered for the occasion.

Both DVDs are available for a combined cost of $20.
